Community Service
At Mater Dei we prioritize community service as a means for teaching our students that our motto of, "Work Hard, Play Hard, Pray Hard, and Be A Good Guy," should not be mere words, but measurable actions that can significantly impact the community around us. Through partnerships with nonprofits such as DC Central Kitchen, The Father McKenna Center, Nourish Now, Poor Roberts, Christ Child Society, our boys have ample opportunities for small group and school-wide service projects. Mater Dei students will experience a broad range of age-appropriate service learning, from participating in diaper drives in the Lower School to serving meals to the homeless in the Upper School. Integrating community service into the Griffin curriculum is a vital way for our guys to prioritize being a young man for others and to develop into a person always looking for ways to help out those around him.
