ADMISSIONS

Thank you for your interest in Mater Dei School!

Mater Dei School provides an accelerated yet basic Catholic education in which character development is emphasized and appreciated as much as academic accomplishments. In a traditionally structured yet relaxed atmosphere, the students are encouraged to work and play hard; accordingly, a strong athletic program complements the scholastic curriculum.

Below, please find general school and admissions information.

Sincerely,

William G. McMurtrie

Head of School

Mater Dei follows an open application policy and practices a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin with respect to the admission and treatment of students, faculty, and administrative staff.  Admissions decisions are based on standardized testing (administered by Mater Dei) in conjunction with records and recommendations provided by the applicant's current school.

* Please note that most new students are admitted to Mater Dei in the first, fifth and sixth grades and that openings in other grades depend upon current student attrition. Accordingly, if you apply for a grade other than first, fifth or sixth grade, the general admissions timeline occurs later should a spot become available.

General admissions timeline for first, fifth and sixth grades:

  • Aug-Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec:  Complete online application, preferably by early December.

  • Parent Interview/Tour:  In Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec applicant parents will receive an acknowledgement via email with instructions for scheduling their Admissions Interview.

  • December/January:  First grade applicants take readiness tests in small groups.

  • Late December:  Recommendation forms and transcript requests are mailed directly to the applicants’ current schools from Mater Dei.

  • January:  Fifth and sixth grade admissions testing is on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Students will meet the Head of School and have a tour of the school.

  • Financial Aid:  Financial Aid applications for families new to Mater Dei must be completed by January 15, 2023. (Due date for current families is December 15, 2022)
